No Vision

Where there is no vision, the people perish: … – Proverbs 29:18

Solomon makes an emphatic statement: if there is no vision, there is only destruction to the people of GOD. A vision, therefore, is God’s will for people to continue and to thrive. It helps to formulate plans and forges a direction. It unites people and it unleashes the power of GOD as the vision of God’s people unites them in prayer. For without God, we can do nothing. Why is there no vision for the people of God?

There is no vision because there is a refusal of the word: They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof. Proverbs 1:30. The wisest man in history has stated that those who choose not to obey the word of God, is doomed to be destroyed. There is no vision because there is a refusal of the word by the leaders of Israel. Is it not clear that if the leaders are disobedient, the people will be too? For the leaders of this people cause them to err; and they that are led of them are destroyed. Isaiah 9:16 There is also a refusal of the word by the people themselves. When a leader has refused God’s word, it is no excuse for the people to refuse God’s word, it is no excuse for the people to refuse God’s word. But if the people have refused to listen to God’s word, how can God show His will clearly? There is no vision because there is a refusal of the word.

There is no vision because there is a rejection of the word: Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou has rejected knowledge… God’s people must learn that a rejection of the word of God, leads to blindness, rebellion and a loss of direction. So, the people of GOD wandered in the wilderness forty years although the trip to the Promised Land took merely a month. So, God’s people are dispersed and scattered for the past two thousand years because of their rejection of the word of the Saviour. So, the people of God today are dispersed and scattered becayse God’s word has been dispensed with, and rejected.

When there is no vision, the result is that the people will perish by the word: He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day. John 12:48. God’s word brings blessings to those who will hear but as God’s people, the same word that blesses, will also curse when we choose not to obey it..

What do we do? The rest of the verse teaches us: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he. We need to keep the word, we need to obey the word and we need to live the word. For if we know these things, happy are we if we do them John 13:17.

What is God’s vision for your life? Do you know? Begin by keeping His word and if we are faithful in the little things, God will show us the bigger things. May we be filled with spiritual eyes to see the vision of God for our lives and for our church!!
