  • The Temple of GOD – the Body of Christ

1 Pet 2:5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. The apostle Peter was encouraging the Jews who have been excommunicated by the Pharisees as they trust the Lord Jesus to save them, and take a stand with Christ. They used to present physical sacrifices to GOD in the magnificent temple of King Herod; they used to go to the splendid temple to worship and admire the wonderful edifice of the building of man’s hands. Peter now tells them that they are the lively stones that make up the spiritual temple of…

  • Saved to Serve

Eph 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. God in His grace, has accepted us in the beloved, He has led us to the point of salvation, and the conviction upon our hearts that we are sinners needing a saviour. We have made the decision to trust Him as the Saviour of our Souls and the redeemer from our sins. What is next? Many christians stop here: they have trusted the Lord, but they go no further. Yet the Lord is clear: we are His workmanship created in Christ Jesus unto good works!…

  • Commitment

1 Timothy 1:11 …the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust. Commitment is a fearful word to many modern day believers because to many minds, it means the need to be bound by someone or some institution other than self. Sadly, many do not see the need to be committed to the Lord, to the Lord’s Church, to service to the Lord. Many cite personal reasons, situations and practical occurrences as reasons why they cannot be committed to the Lord. The word commit means to be entrusted to. In the words of the apostle, the Lord has entrusted to him the glorious gospel of Christ.…

  • Reminders for the Servant of God

Matt 10:24 The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord. Forgetfulness is the trademark of sinners. We are especially prone to forget spiritual principles in the face of opposition. The Lord Jesus included this reminder to His disciples in His teaching on what will happen to His disciples as they served Him. It was an important reminder for the disciples; it is timely reminder for us. This verses serves up three reminders for the servants of GOD: 1. This verse reminds us of our position: that we are under the authority of our Master and Lord, the Saviour Christ Jesus. His word and His principles…

  • The High Estimate on a Mother’s Love

Image courtesy of Natalia Osiatynska from Flickr; licensed under Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 2.0 Generic In extolling His love towards His people, God uses the attention that a mother gives to her infant nursing child as an example of His own love for Israel. He expects that a mother, in the most natural of all attributes, will tenderly and spontaneously watch over her young. He asks a rhetorical question to Israel: can a woman forget her young? Is it possible for a mother to forget a young infant child who needs her? Notice three qualities that GOD highlights in this simple verse: A MOTHER PROVIDES FOR HER CHILD: Can a woman forget her…

  • The Servant

“…the servant of the Lord…” 2 Timothy 2:24 There are many Christians today who do the work of the Lord. Many claim to serve GOD in different capacities out of their freewill. It is vital to note, however, that there is a fundamental difference doing something for God and being a servant of God. Notice three traits of a servant from the verse phrase .. The servant of GOD is a specific person: The servant of the Lord is not merely a nameless face or individual. GOD identifies the person He chooses and whom He would to serve Him. The world may despise such a man and look down on…
