God is Able to Deliver Us…
…our God…is able to deliver us… – Daniel 3:17
Many are the distresses of life and many times we feel trapped. Satan oppresses us with hard trials that test our faith and our strength. We are torn from every side, and cast down. We are discouraged, and oftentimes, we do not see the hand of the Lord. Like Job, we complain and even curse the day we are born. When asked: is the Lord able to see us? Can He deliver us from the troubles we are in? We need to hear the testimony of three brave Hebrew children, at risk of being thrown into the fiery furnace for their faith. Dear friend, every trial that you will ever go through tests your faith in Christ. That the trial of your faith (1 Peter 1:6). Every trial that we ever go through is designed, and sanctified by God for the strengthening of His children.
Learn three precious lessons from this verse:
Firstly, GOD is able to deliver us: God’s abilities are not limited by circumstances, situations and place. He can save in the lion’s den, and in the fiery furnace. He can open the Red Sea as well as holding the sun in the sky so that Joshua can complete the conquest. He is able to do above abundantly more than we can do or think. Our God is GOD almighty, EL SHADDAI! Is there anything too hard for the Lord?
Secondly, GOD is able to deliver us. The word deliver us means to free us. God has the ability, power and authority to free us from external instances of fear. Many martyrs of old have been saved from the paws of wild beasts, and some like the apostle John has been saved from the burning pot of oil. GOD is also able to free us from the fears of our lives, the fierce trials that threaten to undo us, to bring us down and to destroy us. GOD can save, and He will save! Are you enslaved in sin? Are you bound in the chains of evil habit? God can free you!
Thirdly, the God who is ABLE to DELIVER is a PERSONAL GOD… OUR GOOD. Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego has a personal relationship with this almighty GOD, because they said: OUR GOD… Since HE is a personal God, He is personally interested in the welfare and the security of His children. HE will never suffer the righteous to be moved, the care of His children is His self-imposed responsibility. 1 Peter 5:7 “Casting all your cares upon Him, for He careth for you.”
Fellow believer, are you in the bondage of sin, are you in the trials of life, are you in the bonds of suffering, and you see no hope, or light? There is a GOD, a personal GOD, an almighty GOD who is able to free us. GOD can either free us from the trial, and make us stronger in the trial. Both ways, GOD delivers us… and we can rejoice!!
