The Choice

Choose ye this day whom ye will serve… – Joshua 24:15

Life is filled with the need to make choices. The choice of what to eat, where to live, what to do in certain situations, all requires us making the choice. A right choice would reap benefits for us, and a wrong choice will lead to disastrous results. For the Christian, this is even more important, for GOD’s word gives us the right choices, whether by commandment, by principle, or by example. Yet there is a choice or to follow my feel, my opinion, and my direction. Notice three lessons from the verse above:

Notice firstly that we must choose INDIVIDUALLY: “Choose ye…” Joshua speaks to the nation and told them that a choice is to be made personally, by everyone. No one can choose for someone else. The son must choose, the daughter must choose, the father and mother themselves MUST choose.

Notice secondly, we must choose TODAY. Today is the day of decision. Many Christians choose to delay, rather than choosing today. The devil’s day is always tomorrow because he knows through delay, he can intervene, disrupt, cause doubt, increase faith and destroy lives. But when we choose today, Christ comes in to reign, the Spirit is given the liberty to direct and the Christian’s heart, hand and head are ready to work for the Lord. Choose ye this day.

Notice thirdly, we must choose whom to serve… It is amazing that free will is preserved and the individual reserves the right to choose. Yet, they must choose.

What are the choices?
— Our old ways, sinful and degraded without the opportunity to serve and glorify GOD. For is we live by the flesh, we will never glorify GOD. The other is the choice of following GOD in His ways and His word.

Dear Christian, what is your choice? Joshua said “As for me and my house, we WILL serve the Lord. Will you say the same?
