Beautiful Feet

How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! – Romans 10:15

In ancient times, news was often transmitted by men. Although sometimes, there is the need for the use of animals, many times, the news was brought by foot. Someone had to do the arduous task of bringing news to a city, a town or an individual. The apostle Paul uses the illustration in Isaiah 52:7 of a messenger bringing the news of victory to the people of Israel of a war against an enemy: good news indeed for an oppressed people.

God has given us salvation, the result of the message of the gospel of peace. There is victory over the enemies of sin, and Satan. Lives do not need to be in defeat and distress and discouragement. They do not need to live lives of condemnation of their guilt and their eternal destiny in hell: we have the good news, and we have the news of good things!!

Yet, many still do not hear, and many therefore are still in defeat and distress. What do we need to do so that people may say: how beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace?

Firstly, we need to realize that we have the gospel of peace: the gospel is good news, and the good news is the power to set people free from sin. We need to realize that the gospel we have IS THE POWER OF GOD UNTO SALVATION!! Dear Christian, is there the realization? Is there the conviction? That GOD can save? And save to the uttermost? Save from sin, hell and eternal torment? If we are not convicted that GOD can save, we will not be convinced why we need to do anything about it. But I know you know GOD CAN SAVE!!

Secondly, we’ll need to go: feet here represent movement and action. We need to be actively employed in the business of soul winning and giving of tracts and loving people. There must be a willingness in our hearts to go for souls. The messenger sends the message of victory to the people, and as the people see the approaching messenger, there is the rising up of hope and expectation and there is the hope of overcoming. Christians, will we go?

Thirdly, notice the outcome: How beautiful are the feet of them… The people who see the great light and have received the good news, will be so glad that you have come and share the good news of the gospel and there will be great joy and gladness! We will be the instrument of God’s hope, God’s love, and God’s joy to the people!

Christian, is your feet… beautiful? Are we bearers of the light of GOD? Many need Christ for without Him, they will perish. Will you go?
